Sights of Curacao

Curaçao is an island bursting with color, culture and nature. Besides its beautiful beaches, the island has plenty of impressive places that are well worth a visit. From historic districts to rugged coastlines and tropical nature, these are the most beautiful sights on Curaçao.

Little Curaçao

A day trip to Klein Curaçao is a highlight of many vacations. Located 25 kilometers away, this uninhabited island is known for its snow-white beach, iconic pink lighthouse and shipwrecks along the coast. Snorkelers often spot sea turtles here.

Salt pans of Jan Thiel

Not far from Villa South Beach are the salt pans of Jan Thiel. Here you can take a lovely walk and with any luck see the flamingos flying over at sunset. A quiet place where you experience the nature of Curaçao up close.

Willemstad – UNESCO World Heritage Site

Curaçao’s capital is perhaps its most famous landmark. Stroll along the colorful Handelskade, cross the iconic pontoon bridge and discover the atmospheric districts of Punda, Otrobanda and Pietermaai. With their colonial buildings, street art and cozy terraces, they are a feast for the eyes.

Christoffel Mountain & Christoffel Park

For adventurers, a climb to Mount Christoffel is a must. It is the highest mountain in Curaçao, and once at the top you will have a spectacular view of the island. The surrounding Christoffel Park is ideal for hiking and discovering the local flora and fauna.

Shete Boka National Park

On the rugged northern coast you will find Shete Boka, a natural park with impressive coves where the waves hit the rocks with full force. Boka Tabla is especially spectacular: here you can see the ocean rolling in from a cave.

Museums and culture

Culture enthusiasts can visit several museums, such as the Kura Hulanda Museum (history of slavery) and the Maritime Museum. There are also regular local markets where you can discover art, music and crafts.

Hato Caves

Near the airport are the mysterious Hato Caves. Inside you will find stalactites, stalagmites and ancient petroglyphs of the Arowak Indians. Bats also live in the caves. A fun and educational excursion for young and old alike.

All attractions of Curaçao are within easy reach from Villa South Beach. Within a few minutes’ drive you are in Willemstad or at the salt pans of Jan Thiel, while the nature parks and Klein Curaçao are easily accessible for a day trip.
